Scott Wilson of Greenwich, who is not with us any more and who I met while he was working as a carpenter in the house where I used to live and work.
His talent and his work ethics taught me a lot. He had the gentlest and kindest spirit that he liked to hide under a rough exterior.
His rare, but open smiles were so very special to me and the picture that I took of him back in 1995 is one of the most precious things I own because it allows me to see one of his smiles…

Charlie Bartholet, who never teased my desire to marry a cowboy and he took my dream so seriously that, one day, he brought me a real Stetson hat that I still keep with love and care just like the way I keep the beautiful wooden box that he made and the many letters that he wrote for me. The beautiful little painting he made for me a long time ago showed me the love he felt for art, for the ocean and for the town of Stonington, a place that I always wanted to see and that I learned to love right away.

Chris Davis, someone that received one of my usual smiles and that spoke to me while I was having lunch at a little diner in Waterbury.
I was writing in my diary and he started to talk to me. After a kind and friendly conversation, he had left to go back to work and when I was ready to pay, the waitress had told me that I didn’t have to because everything was taken care of.
I ran out of the diner, touched by that simple and kind gesture and I searched for the bank where he was working as a guard and I went to thank him.

Karin Joannesson, from Sweden, who came to my rescue in a time of need.
She opened her heart and her family to me, she believed in me and she showed me how you can still smile when everything around you looks so scary and so uncertain.

Caryn, a woman that touched my heart from the very first moment and that, thanks to the Johns Hopkins website which allowed her to see my work, became the first online buyer of the Flowers 4 MS cards.
After a couple of weeks, I got to meet her on the West Coast and I got to see how we were meant to become close.
She was one of the many “strangers” that became a true friend…

Catherine, a woman that, after reading a short letter I wrote to the magazine Neurology Now and after checking my story on this site, contacted me and wrote me words that I will never forget. Since that time, we have been able to create a special friendship that is based on mutual support and understanding.

Mario Ciasulli from North Carolina, a man that, thanks to his friend Catherine, learned about my site and purchased some of my cards. After receiving my thank you note, he felt comfortable enough to contact me and based on his Italian American background, we have been able to connect and I was able to teach him more about his Italian roots. His heart was open and receptive from the very beginning and we have become really good friends.

Debra Blackburn from Oklahoma, a very kind woman that loves butterflies as much as I do and thinks of me every time she sees one. She loves looking at the small things in nature and she brightens my day with her messages. This is a special note of support that she sent to me.

Special Strangers that I will never forget...
