Of course, when I went to Southwestern to meet my old doctor, I couldn’t even feel the pain: I had a lot of energy and I was so happy that the only thing that I was able to say over and over was: happiness is my cure! J
Unfortunately, I did get a cold and I ended up having a cough and a light sinus infection.

My 16th Tysabri Infusion: Month of April, 2010

I got back home from Texas missing my friends from the first day and I brought with me a new resolution: I wanted to take more time for myself and go back to exercise and be active, so I went back to enjoy the little things in life, the ones that helped me go through the most difficult times, and I started working less on my project and finding some time every day to be active and walk as much as possible. A week after being back, I went to the cranial doctor and he was able to help me in many ways. I am not constipated any more, I can exercise again and he realigned my body so I can walk better…and I walk so well that, at times, I can do it for 40 minutes! I had one day when, in total, I walked more than an hour and a half! My knee is much stronger and so is my ankle but I still don’t feel that I am able to run.
This month I had more headaches that included the whole head and that came and went and some more eletrical shocks, sometimes light and sometimes strong and fast. I can’t say that it was a super difficult month for me but I did have more challenges that were different from the ones that I had in in the previous months. I made it through without having strong cognitive issues. In fact, I think that, cognition wise, I had a pretty good month!
Toward the end of April, when I was getting closer to infusion time, I started having eye pain and neck pain, I had a sore throat and, at times, my eyes felt “inflamed” the way they felt when I had optic neuritis and I started having some light blurry vision. Also, there are times when my stomach “literally” closes and I can’t eat. I don’t have appetite and I have trouble swallowing and then, a couple of hours laters, everything is gone and I feel much better!
Improvements in the last month have to do with the walking: I walk more than I have even done since my relapses and I can finally wear other shoes (with ankle support and not that stylish, but it’s ok!!). I still mostly use the sneakers and my “hamburger shoes” but I have started using another pair.
My infusion was scheduled for the 21st of April.
and it went well once again, except for the low blood pressure and the feeling of the drug moving inside my head.
The month of April was a very good one for me. It’s never perfect because I do have MS and I can’t simply put it aside and feel 100% but I am able to live well for most of the month and I am able to work as hard as I used to before getting sick. Nowadays, after hours of gardening and heavy work, I feel tired, which is something that I never felt before but it’s ok…Sometimes I smile to myself because I am starting to believe that I was a super woman of some sort since I was never resting and my husband was always the first one to sit or rest before I ever did! And I am happy to say that, on some occasions, I am still the one that has more energy and is able to keep on going!
Of course, I am the one that pays the price of such a workout because, usually, the day after I am not able to do as much, but I understand that this is my fault and that I should learn to pace myself…but I really CAN’T! When I feel good, I want to LIVE and I don’t want to slow down or “waste” my time doing nothing. I simply want to live to the fullest and my body has to be the one to slow me down because my mind really doesn’t want to!
During the last week of the month, before I have to go and get Tysabri again, I had some vision problems and, just like most months, I started wondering about PML…so I went to the cranial doctor and he helped me as much as he could. I have learned not to care what people say or think about my beliefs in this type of alternative therapy so I will feel free enough to tell you that my right eye, which was the one that has the most problems, got a lot better after he worked with my body. My eyes often burn, sometimes they hurt and and I see blurry once in a while but, in the last week, the blurriness got worse and the right eye started giving me more problems.
