My Story

My name is Angela Sergio Cleary and I am an Italian woman born and raised in Gorizia, a town that is part of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region in the north east part of Italy.
Daughter of a Sicilian father and a mother from the Emilia Romagna region, I have been able to be a part of both cultures and lifestyles and I have been able to be influenced and touched by both worlds.

Since I was a little girl, while loving my country and its natural and artistic beauty, I found myself attracted to anything that was new, different and exciting.
Since I was a little girl, I had a very special and very unusual dream: I wanted to see America.
While in school and while growing up, this dream of mine took me over completely and I spent years dedicating myself to learning more and more about this country, its people and their world.

At the age of 20, after finishing high school and after working as a kindergarten teacher in a catholic private school in Monfalcone, I made the tough decision to leave everything behind, job, friends, family and a world that represented all I knew and loved, and I came to America to take part in an amazing journey, a journey that made my dreams become a reality.

While I can’t say that it was easy, I can say that, because it was the biggest and most important dream in my life, I felt that everything that I had to go through was well worth it. I realized from the beginning that every hardship, every battle, every struggle, was a way for me to learn, to grow and to appreciate things more and understand their value in a better way.
After 3 and a half years of making it in the country completely alone, I met a wonderful man who later became my husband.
Since the day we met, we have been inseparable and we have been able to truly enjoy life together.

Part of the dream of being in America, was to get to know the country from the inside out and, by traveling, I have been able to see many aspects of it and understand its diversity, its contradictions and to see and be a part of the amazing pride that people feel for it.
I have been lucky enough to visit 36 states and my ultimate goal is to see all 50.

Years have gone by and, after buying our first home in the state of New York, my husband Keith and I moved to Connecticut, where we bought our dream home in March of 2005.
Just like in our first home, I treated this home like a canvas and feeling that a home is where our souls live and thrive, I dedicated all my time in decorating it and creating an oasis of peace, serenity and love. A place where I could feel as if I was in Italy without having to leave this country and a place where I could let my creativity express itself in the deepest ways.
I use my creativity in many ways and in many aspects of my life.
I am a passionate cook, an avid gardener, a crafty decorator and scrap booker.
I love nature, children, music and traveling and I am an avid supporter of the environment.
